So, what’s the difference between the two?
1. In terms of composition materials, copper-clad steel ground rods and zinc-clad steel ground rods are made of different materials. As the name suggests, copper-clad steel grounding rods are mainly made of copper, while zinc-clad steel grounding rods are made of special zinc and special steel. The main material is zinc. Therefore, from the perspective of compositional materials, there is a big difference between the two.
2. In terms of product characteristics, there are also big differences between copper-clad steel ground rods and zinc-clad steel ground rods. Due to different materials, the product characteristics of the two are also very different. Specifically, zinc-clad steel ground rods combine the benefits of zinc strip anodes and traditional galvanized steel. It not only has the high strength and high thermal stability of steel, but also has the function of cathodic protection, thus avoiding repeated investment and construction of grounding devices and cathodic protection. Due to the skin effect of current in the conductor and the unique anti-corrosion properties of copper, the conductivity and corrosion resistance of copper-clad steel ground rods are superior to other grounding products.
3. There are certain differences in the product manufacturing process between copper-clad steel ground rods and zinc-clad steel ground rods. Different from the manufacturing process of copper-clad steel ground rods, zinc-clad steel ground rods are bimetallic composite materials formed through a specific process. They are a new type of grounding product developed based on the grounding characteristics of petrochemical and power systems.
